FACT CHECK: COVID vaccines do not contain luciferase or luciferin
Recent disinformation circulating in social media inaccurately reported that COVID vaccines contain the organic compounds, luciferin or luciferase.
In fact, none of the COVID-19 vaccine shots contain luciferin or luciferase (oxidized luciferin).

Where did this story begin?
On November 1st, 2021, a tweet from Emerald Robinson, Newsmax’s White House correspondent, suggesting luciferin was in vaccines and that it is the “Mark of the Beast” began trending on social media. Since then Emerald Robinson has been pulled Off-Air for perpetuating fake news, and Elliot Jacobson, Newsmax’s executive vice president and chief content officer, has come out in support of vaccines making the following statement:
“Newsmax is a strong proponent that COVID-19 vaccines are overarchingly safe and effective, while at the same time raising concerns that mandates infringe on personal liberty and privacy. We have seen no evidence to suggest LUCIFERASE or LUCIFERIN are present in any vaccines or that they are used as any sort of bioluminescent marker.”
Robinson’s demonstrably false statement has now been thrown in the same “false stories” bin as other past satanist claims such as the patent number of the vaccines is “060606” or that the vaccines contain the mark of the beast.
Where are luciferase and luciferin found then?
Luciferase is an enzyme, an organic compound that creates bioluminescence. It can be found in fireflies and lightning bugs and gives them their glow. The word is derived from the Latin word “Luc” which means “Light” and “Lucifer” which means “Light-bearer.”
